Our town is full of history, but a huge part of memories made from years past are found in this hidden gem, The Electra Grand Theatre. The "Grand" holds many events for our small town, including the Cowpokes International Film Festival, Homecoming concerts, Christmas concerts, horse drawn carriage rides, street dances, movies, and the Electra ISD volleyball and basketball teams host annual "Grand Tournaments" in honor of this historical building.

Renovations
A Work In Progress
In 2007, Electra Grand Theatre, Inc. was formed as a non-profit organization to refurbish the wonderful old Grand Theatre in Electra, Texas. After years of neglect by a non-resident owner, the theatre was deeded back to the City of Electra with a monumental task of returning it to a functional building.
Although it looks like an existing theatre on the exterior, the interior was almost completely destroyed because of a faulty roof -- ruining the complete floor system, all seating, the balcony and stage, and many of the architectural details which gave the building its unique personality.
The Grand is an architectural treasure which - with some loving care - can be returned to its former state as a center for family entertainment in this small north Texas town.
Because of building code improvements from 1920 there are new rules which dictate our making the building safe, fireproof and handicap accessible. These new rules are necessary, but expensive.
